Lately I have been asked how this extreme winter weather will affect lawns in our area.

Short answer is probably not much. My past experiences with weather conditions like we have had don’t have me worried–too much.

We have had a nice blanket of snow through out most of this polar vortex. This snow acts as an insulator against the dry cold winds that could cause the turf plants to dessicate (dry out). Bear in mind that grass existed long before we started to maintain it. Turf evolved built in protectors against harsh weather and is more hardy than we give it credit for.

Should you have any concerns about the condition of your lawn once the snow melts. Give us a call or shoot us an e-mail and we will come and asses the lawn’s condition. Thanks for reading.
