Lawns in northern Ohio are very brown this spring.  The grass is not dead, just dessicated (dehydrated).   No snow cover leaves lawns vulnerable to frigid temperatures and high winds. These conditions caused the moisture to be wicked out of the leaf tips. Consequently, leaving the lawn brown.   Once the weather warms the ground, new leaf tissue will grow and you will mow off the dead, brown tissue.
